Grey & Yellow Cake

Meet my new partner, Noelle Stringham. Sure she might be a head or two shorter than me, but together we create simply amazing cakes. She started doing cakes when we took the Fondant/Gumpaste class together and as you can see....she is a natural.

This is the first cake we did together. It was for a baby shower. We decided on this design because of the baby's room colors which are yellow and grey.

Luau Shirt Cake

Happy 25th Birthday to my partner in crime, Shawn Sloan. We were planning a luau to celebrate us buying a house but figured we would combine that and his birthday. It was great!!! The cake was a huge success. It was yellow cake with buttercream frosting and the filling was chocolate pudding mixed with whip cream and raspberries in between two layers of chocolate filling. It was delicious! Once again, Happy Birthday Shawn!!!!

Spiderman Cake

Okay so what if my Spiderman is a little chunky, he is just laying there on the roof!!! This cake is only the second fondant cake I have done. I am getting better but still have a ton of room left for improvement! Dallon loved his cake though, so it's all good.

Rubber Ducky

Do you know a one year old that goes around saying, "DUCK?" Well, I know of one and this was the perfect birthday cake for him. Westen loved it so much he threw the duck on the ground after noshing on its head.

Rubber Ducky Cake, all edible

Under the Sea

Told you the Jesse cake started something big! This was for Shawn's niece, Addie. She loved it, in fact she wouldn't eat her dinner because she wanted her cake. SO CUTE!!!

Jesse's Roundup

This cake may have been the start of something BIG!! I really can draw with frosting!!! It kills your hand but tastes pretty yummy in the end. I'll tell you what though, I was pretty worried when Chelsey told me Arlee would like a Jesse (from Toy Story) cake for her birthday. I couldn't imagine how to do it, but I think it turned out okay. Don't you?

Crown Cake

One of my best friends Ashley, has a little girl named Issy that I consider a niece. Ashley asked me to make the crown cake I made for Kasiah for Issy's 1st birthday.  Just more  proof that the second time a cake is done, the cake turns out better.

Motorcycle Cake

I know this might sound bad, but Shawn is lucky he even got a cake this last year. His birthday celebration was on the day I went through the temple for the first time and also pretty close to our wedding. So as much as I loved his cake and as much as he loved it, it was pretty fast and simple.

Lightening McQueen

This was my second time making this cake. First time was helping my friend make it for her boyfriend and when I sent the picture to my sister, she told me Jayden would love it for his birthday. Like I said about the baby cake I made. It seems to go better the second time around.

Oh and Jayden is a freakin' cutie as well :)

Lady Bug Cake

My niece's parents (so my sister and brother in-law) call Arlee "Little Bug" so what could be more fitting then a lady bug cake for her birthday? Exactly, nothing! :)

Side fact, I didn't know what else to do besides a 9x13 cake pan for the first little while.

A Pilot's Cake

My little brother is going to school to be a pilot, so for his birthday I decided to surprise him with this super cute airplane cake.

Crown Cake & Castle Cake

My niece asked for a castle for her 3rd birthday, but I didn't know how I was going to pull that one off, so I settled for a crown. She still loved it but I knew one day I would make her a castle.

Just like I said I knew I would have to make her a castle, so a year later I attempted it. Her reaction when I brought the cake inside was priceless. She loved it.

80th Birthday

First cake I did after my class. I will admit it right now, so could have done better. But I just have to remember that I have come a long way :)

It pays to learn

After my life flip flopped on me I decided to take some me time by joining a cake class. You know, develop the talent that I was hoping to master. It was a basic class, but it taught me a lot about cake decorating. It was a four week course where we decorated three cakes.

First cake: learning the basic star tip

Second cake: figure pipping (which is in need of a ton of work)

Final cake: learning to make roses.

It's a girl!!

This cake I made for my sister's baby shower that I was co-hosting. I made another replica for a co-worker for a shower she was hosting but sadly didn't get a picture of that one. Bummer too because I actually remembered to give the other one a belly button and a nose. The things we learn the second time around.

3D Cars Cake

This is where it all began. I think I made these in 2008 but I'm not positive. They were for an old boyfriend since he was obsessed with cars! PRETTY FREAKIN' CUTE HUH?!?!?!

Developing a Talent

As many of us know, everyone has talents. Whether it be singing, drawing, playing an instrument, giving amazing back rubs, public speaking, or whatever else it may be, they all have to be developed. Even those who seem to be born with a talent, they still have to constantly work on it.

Well as you may guess from the title of my new blog, this blog is going to be just for my cakes. I decided that I need a place to have pictures of my cakes all in one area instead of spread out. Hopefully this will help me see the progress I am making a little easier.

I don't expect to have my own cake show anytime soon, but who knows, if I keep working and getting better at this, I just might have one in the future. My fingers are crossed and I am ready to do the work!!!
